Family Fun

Winter break 2011 we took our first vacation in years.  New York City!!  As an added bonus to the fun we surprised our kids with the trip.  It was their first time to NYC and their first time flying on a commercial airline.  We took the trip as a well deserved reward for the sacrafices made by our entire family while Jim was in nursing school. 

We surprised the kids with the plane tickets the day before we were scheduled to leave.  They couldn't believe it.  Finally they get to go to NYC.  After packing...none of us could sleep.  We were all so excited!  We left at 1:30am and drove to the Orlando International Airport, the flight left at 5:30am, we arrived in NYC before 8:00am.  Exhausted but too eager to sleep we checked into our hotel in Newark, NJ and took the train from Penn Station straight to the World Trade Center.  As we walked out of the WTC path, I noticed the look on my kids faces, PRICELESS!  All they could say was WOW!!!

My son was the most impressed with the subway system and the fact that the GameStop had two floors.
My daughter was most impressed by all the stores, endless shopping, every teenage girls dream!
Jim, who's biggest hobby is anything to do with food had to find NYC's best pizza!  We think we did.  It was really good.  Unfortunately we also found the world's worst Mexican restaurant.  My son got the chicken wings and we swear they were pigeons from the back alley.

The trip home was just exhausting as the trip there.  Question:  How is it the drive from the hotel to the airport took longer than the flight home?  We arrived back at Orlando International Airport around 1:00am. we got home around 3:00am and Jim had to be at work at 6:30am. hard but he said it was well worth it.  We had a blast!
